Care and Cleaning of Plastic
CARE AND CLEANING OF YOUR PLEXI DISPLAYS : Clean only with mild soap and water. Rinse well, dry with soft damp cloth or chamois. Avoid aromatic solvents and abrasives. Windex or normal glass cleaners are not a good choice. They will remove any natural resistance from the plastic and any fine grit on the cloth will cause scratching.
GREASE AND TAR REMOVAL: Grease and tar can be removed by using a good grade of naptha, alcohol or kerosene. Be careful to keep these chemicials away from any polished edges. Contact with polished edges can cause stress cracking.
REMOVAL OF SCRATCHES: By applying a thin coat of automotive paste wax and buffing lightly with a clean, soft cloth, most minor scratches can be removed or hidden. Removal of Deeper Scratches: Is possible but depending on the depth of the scratch may not be cost effective. The best way is to use a micromesh kit, cost about $90.00. This process uses a series of sanding pads from 6000 grit to 20,000 grit to remove the scratch followed by a polish application. Most airline companies use this method. There is some liquid cleaner polish combinations that will work on some fine scratch's put out by novis or meguiars. These cleaners put a thin film of silicone on the plastic for protection.
